Join us on Saturday, January 26 from 1-4 p.m. for a creative writing workshop led by Langley Shazor of The Casual Word. This event is intended for ages 18 and older. Registration is required and can be completed by clicking here, or by calling the Adult Services Department at 423-434-4454. During the workshop, participants will practice free writing, writing from prompts, and sharing their work. Paper and writing utensils will be provided for those who need them, and Shazor will also bring typewriters for attendees who would like to use them.
Shazor is an author, publisher, mentor, and founder of The Casual Word. He is also a typewriter collector, and he brings his typewriters to writing workshops that he leads throughout the region. His hope is that in the age of social media and smart phones, using typewriters will encourage participants to unplug and connect with their work in a more personal way.
