Do you like stories that take you to a new world, filled with magic or inspired by mythology and folklore? Do you like books that are essentially realistic but have minor fantastic elements or occurrences? Or are you just looking for some good suggestions for what to read next?
If you said yes to any of these questions, then you’ll enjoy our Fantasy Book Group for Adults this Thursday, June 16 from 6-8 p.m. Join our Zoom chat by clicking here to register. We’ll discuss our favorite authors and stories in the fantasy genre, and get recommendations for what to read next!
If you’re not sure what “fantasy” encompasses, it’s a wide range of fiction that includes magical realism, alternate history, fairy tale fantasy, urban fantasy, high fantasy, low fantasy, weird west, and much more. If fantasy isn’t your preferred literature but you’re an adventurous and curious reader, you’ll still find titles that catch your interest in this discussion.
Adult Services Manager Lisa Krekelberg will facilitate the discussion and offer her own suggestions. She says, “Some people think that fantasy is a niche, but I would encourage them to think of it in broader terms and feel invited to join the discussion no matter their tastes. If they’re big fans of Westerns and want to share some of their favorites, they are more than welcome to join, and we can talk about Stephen King’s Dark Tower series!”
Registration is required, so sign up today to reserve your spot! Call Adult Services at (423) 434-4454 with questions.
