Watauga Association Genealogists (WAGS) and your library are holding a book sale for used and new genealogical and local history materials on Saturday, September 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Jones Meeting Room. JCPL Technical Services Manager David Ownby says there will be a lot of interest for local researchers. “We have material on local history and genealogy, but there’s also items from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Texas, Florida, and more.”
WAGS members will also be on hand to help attendees get started on their own genealogical and local history projects, and to help find answers to research questions. If you’ve run into a wall in your genealogical research and you’re not sure how to move forward, WAGS members can help look at issues with fresh eyes and knowledge of lesser-known resources.
Most items at the sale are priced at $10 or less, and cash is preferred. You can find a full listing of sale items here. There will also be WAGS publications available for purchase. The sale is first-come, first-serve and the Library will not sell items before Saturday. (Please note: CDs are being sold as-is and may not be compatible with newer operating systems.)
Proceeds go to the Tennessee Room, your library’s local history and genealogy collection. For more information about the sale, email David Ownby. Stay updated on library services and collections by visiting www.jcpl.org and following Johnson City Public Library on Facebook and Instagram.
