Book Scouts: Magical Reads

“I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.” – J.K. Rowling

It’s safe to say we’re all wishing for a little magic in the world these days. This month’s Book Scouts program aims to do that for ages 8-12. The Book Scouts focus for June is inspired by our Summer Reading theme, “Imagine Your Story”. School Age Program Coordinator Jennifer Johnson highlights books with magical worlds, creatures, and stories.

These featured books are geared toward middle grade children, but can be enjoyed by readers and listeners of all ages. If your kids enjoy the magical spells of “Harry Potter”, the magical creatures of “Fablehaven”, the magical objects of the “Amulet” series, or the fairy-tale based adventures of “The Land of Stories”, they will love these books.

In the video below, Jennifer briefly highlights a few books. Browse the lists below the video for even more recommendations and some magical activities.

These titles can be placed on hold for curbside pickup. To do that, call (423) 434-4450 or visit our website. The titles with an asterisk (*) are also available as ebooks and audiobooks on READS.
