Book Scouts: Volunteer State Book Award Nominees (K-Grade 2)

This month for Book Scouts we’re highlighting kindergarten-grade 2 books that have been nominated for the Volunteer State Book Awards (VSBA). Tennessee librarians and educators choose the initial VSBA nominations and divide them into four age categories. From those nominations, kids get to vote on their top choice in their age group!

Kids can cast their vote after they’ve read at lease three books from the nominee list in their age group. All they have to do is sign up for our Volunteer State Book Awards (VSBA) Reading Challenge, read books, and choose their favorite!

School Age Program Coordinator Jennifer Johnson shares some of her favorite VSBA nominees in the video below; in the list that follows the video you’ll find even more VSBA titles. These books are intended for kids from kindergarten-grade 2. If you’d like to browse the nominees in other age categories, click here.

Click the titles in the list to browse and put them on hold for curbside pickup. If you don’t know where to start, request a Book Bundle of VSBA books and we’ll pick some for you! Call (423) 434-4458 for more information.
