Your Library is getting into the holiday spirit with music! We have concerts on the next three Mondays at 6 p.m. in the Buffalo Mountain Room. The East Tennessee Children’s Choir (ETCC) will perform on December 2. On December 9, violinists from Harrington Music Studio will play holiday favorites. And Harpstrings harpists will play on December 16.
ETCC has kicked off the Christmas season at the Library for the last several years, always performing on the first Monday in December. Youth Services Manager Betty Cobb says, “Hosting the choir has been a thrill for us; the patrons and staff love hearing the kids’ voices as they echo through the stacks. Taking time to listen to them always leaves people in a pleasant, peaceful mood before all the hustle and bustle of the season begins.”
ETCC is made up of 4th-12th graders from all over East Tennessee, and is part of the Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy (MECCA). Students who participate in ETCC gain a musical repertoire that includes both classic choral pieces as well as regional music that represents their Appalachian heritage.
