JCPL Events with Children’s Author Constance Lombardo

Children’s author and illustrator Constance Lombardo is visiting your Library on Thursday, October 20! She’s offering two kids events featuring her books, one for preschoolers and one for middle grade kids.

Special Preschool Storytime: Tiny Spoon vs. Little Fork

Lombardo will lead a storytime for ages 3-5 at 11 a.m. in the Library’s Storytime Room. She’ll read from her picture books, which include Everybody Says Meow and her brand new book, Tiny Spoon vs. Little Fork. Registration is required for this storytime; call the Children’s Library at (423) 434-4458 to register.

Tiny Spoon vs. Little Fork, which will be released in October 2022, is described by Hippo Park-Astra Publishing House as a “fall-off-your-high-chair funny picture book starring a spoon, a fork, and the baby they both want to feed.”

Publisher’s Weekly characterizes the story as “two mortal enemies set[ting] aside their animosity for the sake of a common cause in this WWE-mimicking kitchen smackdown….comically high-strung….high-energy conflict turned collaboration.”

The book encourages teamwork and imparts the joy of shared goals, all while making kids belly laugh. You and your preschoolers won’t want to miss this special storytime!

Middle Grade Graphic Novel Book Club: Mr. Puffball series

Later in the day on Oct. 20, Lombardo will be a special guest in the Library’s Middle Grade Graphic Novel Book Club. This monthly program is for ages 8-12 and meets at 6 p.m. in the Jones Meeting Room.

Lombardo will share her creative process of writing and illustrating the middle-grade Mr. Puffball series. She’ll also do a drawing demo and kids will have time to draw their own comic strips.

Registration is required for Graphic Novel Book Club; call (423) 434-4458 to register.
