If you’re looking for new things to read, watch, or listen to (who isn’t nowadays?), then you’re going to like what your Library has in store for you next week! Starting Monday, December 21, your library card gives you free access to hoopla digital, a streaming service with over 850,000 books, comics, movies, TV shows, and music. Library users can borrow up to four items from hoopla each month.
hoopla is unique in that it allows users to borrow any of its items immediately; there are no holds or wait times. In the mood for a Lifetime movie? Check one out that night. Having a Taylor Swift kind of day? Borrow an album and listen to it on the way to work that day. Wondering what book you should read next? hoopla has a quarterly book club! After immediately checking out the latest book club pick, you can join the conversation with other users on social media.
“With more and more interest in digital collections, we had been looking for ways to improve our electronic materials,” says JCPL Director Julia Turpin. “We chose hoopla because it combines a great variety of materials with a new way of getting them to you.”
hoopla is compatible with a range of devices, including iPhone, Android, Roku, AppleTV, and Amazon Alexa. If you’re using the hoopla app, you’re also able to download your items so you can enjoy them offline.
On December 21, we’ll provide a simple how-to guide for setting up your hoopla account and downloading the app. So get ready to start borrowing immediately – we certainly are!
