Regularly Scheduled Youth Programs Are Back!

Your Library’s regularly scheduled youth programs started up again this week, and we’re excited to tell you about what you have to look forward to this fall! Check out the general program descriptions below, then call 423-434-4458 for more details about any of them.

Preschool Programs

Mother Goose Storytime is offered in September and November on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. for babies ages birth-18 months and their caregivers. Activities include nursery rhymes, singing, and reading with caregivers. Registration is full for September, but you can sign up for November starting in October.

Music Morning is held at 10 a.m. on Mondays, September 9 and 23, November 25, and December 2 and 16. Kids 5 years and younger sing and dance with their caregivers. The focus of this program is developing early language skills through hearing music.

Toddler Time meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. Kids ages 18-36 months sing and listen to stories. There is no registration, but admittance is first-come, first-served and seating is limited.

Preschool Storytime meets on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 11 a.m. Kids ages 3-5 years sing songs and listen to stories. There is no registration, but admittance is first-come, first-served and seating is limited. Kids may wear their pajamas to the Monday evening storytime.

Family Building Day is held on Saturdays, September 14, October 12, and December 14. Families with kids of all ages can drop in between 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. to build with Legos and other materials.

School Age Programs

Book Worms meets on the first and second Thursdays of each month. First Thursdays start at 4:15 p.m. and second Thursdays start at 6:15 p.m. Kids ages 5-8 years listen to the story and then do an activity. The two different evenings will feature the same book, and registration is required.

Book Scouts meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. Youth ages 8-12 years will discover new books in their areas of interest with the help of a librarian. Registration is required.

Tale to Tail and Reading Paws give kids ages 5-10 years a chance to read for 15 minutes to a trained listening dog. Tale to Tail happens every Monday between 4-6 p.m. and Reading Paws is on Saturdays, October 19, November 16, and December 21 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Registration is required.
