Yule Ball: A Harry Potter Celebration

Teens ages 12-18 are formally invited to a Harry Potter holiday celebration on Tuesday, December 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. Join us for games, trivia, crafts, and food, along with a cosplay contest. Dressing up as a Harry Potter character is not required but it is highly encouraged, because there will be prizes for the top three cosplays. Registration for the event is required; you can sign up here. Register soon because space is limited!

When you enter the library’s wizarding world, you’ll find games such as wizard chess and tabletop quidditch, along with movie trivia. There will also be an Ollivander’s wand-making station and a Harry Potter-themed photobooth. And the evening wouldn’t be complete without Honeydukes candy and butterbeer!

Teen Services Manager Katelyn Wolfe decided to hold a Harry Potter teen event not only because it is a unique way to celebrate the holiday season, but also because, as she explains, “teens love fandom events, which are events that center around particular genres, shows, and movies.” Katelyn also personally loves Harry Potter and wishes she could have attended an event like this when she was a teen. She says, “I’m so excited to create a Hogwarts holiday celebration right here at JCPL!”

Contact Katelyn at 423-434-4349 or katelyn.wolfe@jcpl.net for more information about the Yule Ball or other teen events. Keep up to date on the library’s events by visiting our website and following us on Facebook and Instagram.
