Eligible items automatically renew, but you can also renew items online, by phone, or in person. Most items can be renewed twice. Book Drop Locations
JCPL’s drive-up book and media drop is located in the parking area beside the Library, between the upper and lower lots. You can return items using this book drop 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you’re returning items inside the Library, place them in the returns slot just past the Circulation Desk to your left.
Charges and Fees
The fine for all overdue items (except DVDs) is 20¢ a day per item, with a fine of $1.00 per day for DVDs. There is a one-day grace period for most items. If you return items after the grace period, there is a fine for that day. The max fine for each item is $5.00.
Users prepay mobile hotspots at a rate of $2.00 per day for the number of days they wish to borrow. Borrowers are fined $2.00 for each day past the due date, with no grace period and no max fine.
Fees for Damaged or Lost Items
Damaged items carry a fee equal to the amount required to restore the item to circulating condition (up to the cost of replacement). Lost items carry a fee equal to the item’s replacement cost. In both cases, there is an additional $5.00 processing fee.
Library users can replace lost library cards for a charge of $1.00 for the first replacement and $5.00 for each subsequent replacement card.
