Travel through music with Zig Wajler’s Musical Journey! This is a highly interactive contemporary and multicultural music experience features a battery of percussion that introduces rhythms, sounds, and song-styles from around the world with traditional and contemporary instruments and original compositions. Zig Wajler will have shows Thursday, June 21 at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM in the Jones Meeting Room. This program is free and open to the public, and appropriate for all ages.
For the comfort and safety of all, space is limited to 150 for each show. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to each show with first come, first seated.
Audience members participate through active dialogue and hands on interaction including basic rhythm patterns, instrument names, chants, and form a music ensemble. The program features musical styles including Rock, African, Native American, Latin, Hip-Hop, Jazz, US & World Folk and Caribbean. The power of drumming culminates as all participants combine their parts by chanting/singing and playing percussion to the melody of a classic song.
Zig Wajler is presented as part of the “Libraries Rock!” Summer Reading Program and is sponsored by the Johnson City Monday Club and the Friends of the Johnson City Public Library. Support materials are provided by the Tennessee State Library and Archives. The Summer Reading Program will continue through July 20th, and children are encouraged to register at the library or online at www.jcpl.org.
