Johnson City Public Library is seeking a full-time Collections and Metadata Manager to join our Library’s leadership team. We are looking for a candidate with a demonstrated history of innovation, creative problem solving, and collaboration. This person performs supervisory and professional library work in directing the Collections Services department of the library including the acquisition of materials, cataloging and processing of materials and other related tasks. Serves as the lead for the Library’s collection management committee. Serves on a consortium wide cataloging committee.
Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of library science; experience with an Integrated Library System (ILS); the ability to plan, organize, and manage a public library acquisitions and cataloging department; the ability to negotiate contracts with vendors, the ability to maintain complex statistical records; a thorough knowledge of current trends and best practices in information organization; the ability to work as part of a team; considerable knowledge of library routine and procedures; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library personnel, local library consortium, vendors, and patrons; and a working knowledge of the practical application of computer operations and procedures.
Desirable Experience and Education: The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of TLC and Google Workspace. A master’s degree in library science and three years of professional library experience or four years of supervisory experience in a Technical Services Department is required.
This is a full-time position with competitive benefits, which include 20 vacation days annually, sick and personal leave, 13 paid holidays, health, vision, dental life insurance and a fantastic working environment. Pay grade: 17, $51,280.32
