Starting December 1, you can give back to your community and pay off your library fines at the same time! That’s right, Food for Fines is back! All donations go to either Second Harvest Food Bank or the Washington County – Johnson City Animal Shelter. Food for Fines runs December 1-December 30.
No fine is too big and all materials are eligible. The only exceptions are lost or damaged materials – neither are covered under the Food for Fines exchange.
The library will waive $1.00 in fines for each canned good or non-perishable food item brought to the library for Second Harvest. All food items must carry their original packaging and labels. We cannot accept glass, home-canned food or baby formula. The library will waive $1.00 in fines for every two cans of cat or dog food brought to the library for the animal shelter. We’re also accepting Puppy Chow and Kitten Chow, please call for more information.
Food barrels and doggie boxes will be at the Circulation Desk where donations may be dropped off.
