The teen book club will meet November 7 at 5:00 PM in the Storytime room, located in the Youth Services area of the Johnson City Public Library. This month’s selection is Marcus Sedgwick’s Printz Award winning novel Midwinterblood, a sweeping saga of seven intertwined stories of love and passion. Thanks to a grant secured by the Johnson City Public Library, Mr. Sedgwick will also be joining us for a virtual chat and interview! This unique event is for teens ages 12-18 and registration is required.
Midwinterblood is about Eric, a journalist, who has been sent to investigate the Scandinavian island of Blessed, a remote location where there are rumors of immortality. Upon arriving, he is struck by the beautiful Merle and feels an instant connection to her. This novel is divided into seven stories, with titles such as “The Painter” and “The Vampire,” which trace the long history of Merle and Eric. Their love has been forbidden through time and their souls fight through multiple lifetimes in order to find a way to be together. Reincarnated again and again, the pair continually faces opposition and danger against their determination to be together as soul mates.
