We’re nearing the end of Food for Fines 2017, and we wanted to share with you how much you have done to help your community.
After we made our first donation shipment on December 19, Jennifer Miller, Special Events Coordinator for Second Harvest Food Bank, said, “I wanted to take time to thank you for holding a food drive this year on behalf of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee. Your organization brought in 447 pounds of food, which equals 373 meals for individuals in need here in the community. Thank you again for helping us in our mission to stop hunger in our community.”
We’ve done a bit more since then though–as of noon today, December 27, we’ve received over 600 food items and over 100 pounds of pet food donated as part of our Food for Fines effort. In total, we’ve forgiven $748.15 in fines this year!
We also had several donations of food without consideration of fines:
- 154 food items
- 18 can cat food
- 8 cans dog food
- 42 lbs dry dog food
- 23 lbs dry cat food
We still have a few more days to go, but remember, Food for Fines only runs through December 30. This is our last day open in 2017, so bring your donations in soon!
