For the first time the Johnson City Public Library staff is joining in on Food for Fines! Each week the staff has been challenged to donate a different type of items:
Week 1 (December 3rd – 9th): Cereal/Rice/Dried Beans/Pasta/Mac and Cheese
Week 2 (December 10th – 16th): Canned Fruits/Veggies/Tuna/Spaghetti Sauce
Week 3 (December 17th – 23rd): Puppy Chow and Kitten Chow
Week 4 (December 27th – 31st) Baby Food (No glass jars), Diapers
Johnson City Public Library director Robin Westphal says, “The whole program is more about helping our fellow citizens than about reducing fines. For the staff challenge we focused on items of greatest needed such as baby food, diapers, pasta, and pet food. We all have a desire to give back to our community and being able to do so at work is not only convenient, but it also creates a sense of camaraderie.”
Library patrons can donate any of these items at any time to give back to the community and pay off some library fines at the same time! Just drop by the Circulation desk and we’ll take $1.00 in fines off your account for any donated food item, pound of dry pet food, or for every 2 cans of wet pet food.
