Break it down and join us for a party! We’re hosting a block party at King Commons Park on Thursday, July 19 at 6:00 PM. This is our summer reading finale, and every one is welcome, whether you participated in summer reading or not. Lisa Krekelberg, Adult Services Librarian, says “you don’t even need to have a library card! We just wanted to do something for everyone in the community.” Betty Cobb, Youth Services Manager, says “it’s just a great way to chill out for 2 hours, relax, and enjoy the summer.”
We’re bringing you music from Tri-Cities DJs, so make sure to bring your dancing shoes! We’ll also have bunches of lawn games set up throughout the park, including cornhole, twister, giant connect four, kerplunk, and more. The library has also coordinated food trucks to come to the event, including Caribbean Grill, Tacora’s, and Let’s Taco ‘Bout It. If you don’t want to buy food from the food trucks, that’s ok too! Betty continues, “we’d love for people to bring picnics and spread out on the lawn too.”
“This is the first big summer reading finale we’ve done for all ages. We’re hoping its a big success, because we’d love to do it again! This will also be the first big event in King Commons Park, so we’re thrilled the city commission trusted us to show off the new park in style,” Lisa concluded.
To accommodate this big event, the library will be closing early, at 6:00 PM on this date. We will encourage everyone inside the library to join us at the block party.
