This is the online version of the Kingsport Times News., affiliated with the Bristol Herald Courier, brings you up to date news regarding upper East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.


Based out of Bristol, WCYB is the Tri-Cities NBC affiliate. They carry local as well as national news stories.


WJHL is the CBS station based out of Johnson City. They have articles on local and national news.

The Newseum, located in Washington, D.C., offers visitors exhibits of news history and cutting edge technology. On their website, read the front page of more than 800 newspapers in different states and countries. You can also view archived newspapers for significant events over the past year.

Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers

“Chronicling America is a Website providing access to information about historic newspapers and select digitized newspaper pages, and is produced by the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP). NDNP, a partnership between the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Library of Congress (LC), is a long-term effort to develop an Internet-based, searchable database of U.S. newspapers with descriptive information and select digitization of historic pages. Supported by NEH, this rich digital resource will be developed and permanently maintained at the Library of Congress. An NEH award program will fund the contribution of content from, eventually, all U.S. states and territories.” (From the site’s About Us page, 2/1/2015) Read historic newspapers from states throughout the U.S. from 1836-1922.

The Telegraph World War One Archive

To chronicle the hundredth anniversary of World War I, England’s The Telegraph (formerly The Daily Telegraph) is posting digital copies of the newspaper every day. This project began in 2014 and should continue through 2018.
