Johnson City Public Library Children’s Library has an opening for a Library Clerk I. The Children’s Library is a warm, busy place designed to serve children ages birth-12 and caregivers. The primary functions of this position include assisting children and their caregivers in finding the books and materials they need through use of our online catalog, registering children for special programs, and assisting with computer use. Other common tasks of this position include, but are not limited to, creating booklists, assisting with craft kits, assisting with departmental decorations, and other duties as assigned.
We are looking for someone who enjoys children and wants to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to excellence. A person in this position is always expected to provide quality customer service.
This is an hourly position with partial benefits, which include super cool coworkers and paid leave. Starting pay in this classification is $11.86 per hour. The typical schedule will be 20 hours per week. Evening work is required. Alternating weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) are required.

Physical Requirements: Tasks involve some physical effort, including standing and walking, frequent light lifting (5-25 pounds), or other restricted physical activities. Manual dexterity is needed in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of office equipment. This position involves extended periods of sitting at a computer.
Environmental Requirements: Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions (dirt, cold, rain, fumes).
Sensory Requirements: Tasks require sound perception and discrimination; visual perception and discrimination; and oral communications ability.
