Register for a Library CardWhen you register online, you must still visit the Library to finalize your registration and pick up your card. We will ask to see a current photo ID. If your ID doesn’t have your correct physical address, bring documentation that proves your address.
Bring your card each time you visit the Library. Replacement cards are available for a small fee.

Checkout Periods
Most items in Johnson City Public Library’s collection check out for two weeks.
Renew Items
Most items are eligible for two renewals and will automatically renew on their due dates unless another user is waiting for the item. This provides a lengthier checkout, and it keeps down the wait for high-demand items. If you need more than two renewals, call 423-434-4475. Other exceptions may prevent auto-renewals.
- To renew items online, log in to your account and click the “Account Activity” tab.
- To renew by phone, call (423) 434-4475.
- To renew in person, visit the Circulation Desk or a self-check kiosk.
Fees for Damaged or Lost Items
Damaged items carry a fee equal to the amount required to restore the item to circulating condition (up to the cost of replacement). Lost items carry a fee equal to the item’s replacement cost. In both cases, there is an additional $5 processing fee to cover labor, materials, and supplies.
