Organization of Watauga Libraries

The Organization of Watauga Libraries (OWL) is a consortium of public libraries that serves the northeast Tennessee region of Carter, Greene, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington counties, as well as the city of Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia. Libraries that are part of OWL share a catalog system through which users can borrow books from other member libraries.

If you can’t find a particular book in your Library’s catalog, you can search the OWL consortium catalog to see if another library in our region has it. If you find a book at another library and you have a Johnson City Public Library card, you can place a hold on it just as you would for items in our catalog. A courier picks up the books you placed on hold at other libraries and delivers them to Johnson City. Once your books are ready, we contact you and you can pick them up at the Circulation Desk or curbside pickup.
