We’re looking forward to welcoming you back inside your Library in mid-April! In preparation for reopening the building while also continuing curbside service, we’re reinstating the 15-item hold limit starting on Monday, March 8. Thank you for your patience as we transition back to serving you inside the building as well as at curbside!

How does curbside pickup work?

  1. Place holds on items you want to check out. You can do this by searching the catalog on our website or calling (423) 434-4450.
  2. We will notify you by text or email when your items are ready for pickup.
  3. When you arrive at the Library, follow the directional signs to the designated curbside service parking spots. Call (423) 434-4455 when you have parked.
  4. A staff member will come out to your car with your items. Please stay in your car and unlock or pop your trunk. The staff member will place your items in the trunk and close it. A receipt is included with the items’ due dates.

When is curbside pickup available?

Curbside pickup is available 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.

You may put up to 15 items on hold for curbside pickup.

Yes, we’re here to help you find items! When you call (423) 434-4450, follow the instructions to reach the department with which you want to speak and you’ll get personalized help from librarians.

Yes, you can. However, requests for additional items will be filled in the order they are received, so you may need to come back at a later time to pick up those items.

Holds placed on items that are available in our library are often ready the same day. However, many factors can affect how soon an item is ready. For items needed right away, be sure and place your holds before 4 p.m. on weekdays.

You can apply for a library card by clicking here or calling (423) 434-4475. You’ll pick up your card along with your holds at curbside pickup. To pick up your card, you must show a photo ID as well as documentation that gives your current address (if your photo ID doesn’t have your current address).

If you receive a message that your library account has expired or needs to be renewed, don’t worry! It’s very quick and easy to renew your account. Call (423) 434-4475 and we’ll renew your card. Please call during curbside pickup hours: Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

We are waiving lots of overdue fines right now so that you have access to important library material. However, bills for items that are lost or damaged will not be waived.

You can still use curbside pickup if you aren’t in a car. Call (423) 434-4455 when you arrive. A staff member will bring your items out and place them at least six feet away from you.

We can’t accept returns at curbside, but you can place them in our outdoor drive-up drop box.

Unfortunately, we aren’t accepting donations for the time being.

We’ve made curbside pickup as contact-free as possible to protect everyone’s safety. All library staff wear masks, gloves, and aprons at curbside pickup and whenever handling materials. Returned items are quarantined for 24 hours or thoroughly cleaned before they are available again for checkout.

Please help us comply with social distancing guidelines by remaining in your car  and simply unlocking your trunk. A library staff member will bring your order to your car, place it in the trunk, and close it.
